I'm a Great Lakes boater, and I've heard that if you buy a salt water boat and bring it in freshwater, that you will have mechanical problems due to the corrosion from the salt in and around the engine. Is this true??

Thanks for your responses.

I have owned salt water boats for over 20 years. What the most important thing is that you choose a boat with a fresh water cooling system for the engine. Salt water boats are usually set up different. I did own a fresh water 21 footer once and it was very clean. I think if you can find a fresh water boat that fits your needs I would stick with it.
